I find that my time with God is best when I can write out what I am learning and write letters to God...I find journaling so valuable to my worship of my wonderful Lord and Saviour.
I struggled with this for a while and I had heard of people who said that prayer journaling wasn't a good thing to do and that you really need to be able to pray without it...which I can pray without a journal in hand but I was still concerned. However I read psalms and read davids prayers and it hit me...These were David's prayers to God that HE WROTE OUT! Its in the Bible...hmmm...wonder if the people against it thought of this?
Now don't get me wrong its important to be able to pray without pen in hand and I am fully capable of that but I see nothing wrong with prayer journaling and writing out the things I see God teaching me. I think its pretty biblical and its so great to look back and see how good the Lord is!
So yeah I know this was random but that's what this blog has kind of become...Shay's random insights and inspiration! haha. =D
I have two separate journals, the only differnce being one is a notebook and the other is a pocket-journal. I find it easier when I write out my goals, my monumental prayers "I.E., God help me get over my apathy". Just whispering those prayers to myself rarely did any good, in my eyes. But writing things down just seems to cement them into my mind. I remember sermons at church better if I take notes. I remember my schoolwork better if I take notes or answer review questions. I remember basketball plays only when I see them drawn on a whiteboard. I just think like that; it's the way of the writer, I guess. I'm not in any way desperately attached to me journal; I actually haven't written in it for a few days now. But when I need to write my thoughts down, my journal becomes my best friend. It's amazing what pen and paper can do.
