college struggles...

So I am now a month into college and I am really beginning to see why people go to college and fall off track with Christ...ITS SUPER EASY! That's why!

I am enrolled at a community college about 30-40 minutes (it really depends on the traffic in the morning!) from my house and commute there 3 days a week. I like it okay...Its way different from home schooling (duh lol) but its a fairly OK atmosphere...

But I know get the struggle that people talk about when they talk about going to a secular university or college. There are so many influences...you have many professors who show you world views which do not match up with the word of God but you have to learn this stuff to pass, you have to write papers about the stuff they want you to write papers about even if you don't agree with it and you have to memorize a lot of it to pass the tests. This stuff doesn't leave your head after you learn it and take the test either, or turn in the paper...nope its there to stay, whether you want it there or not.

Then if your like me you have the professor who is the leader of the collegiate ministry on campus...she is my English teacher...but if I didn't know she was the head of the ministry I would think she didn't know Christ...Not with the graphic stories we read in class. Its such a shame.

Speaking of the collegiate ministry...its the only ministry on campus and unfortunately not a good one. I am very sad that Christ is hard to find on my campus. I hope I can shine amongst the darkness...however I have to admit that lately its been very hard to get in my time with the Lord as I should. I feel I am a bit weak and that's not good in the climate I am in. I need to work on that and pray about this.

So I leave you with two things:

1.) If you are going to college soon or in college now...keep strong in your walk with the Lord and get yourself planted firmly in Him so that you are less likely to stray very far and avoid temptation.

2.) PRAY for my school Vol state and others like it without good ministries. Pray for the Christians struggling  there like me and the people who have not yet come to know Christ there. PRAY that God will help you and I be a light on our campus's for Him and his glory!

  1. Vol State has issues. It really does. I have a couple dozen friends who go and they say the character of the school is appalling. I just want to encourage YOU to stay strong in your faith. Be the example. But know you aren't alone there. I have several strong Christian friends there. So stand up and be strong!

A couple of rules and guidelines for comments:

1. Please have them be appropriate... in the langauge you use, your grammer (As much as possible. I don't expect perfection.), and in regards to staying on the subject of the post.

2. Be honest. Share stories and personal experiances if you would like but please don't share names and locations and such...I don't say this to be mean but to protect everyone here =)
