College is often a time when people fall away from their christian faith. This can be especially hard when you are going to a secular college and constantly being bombarded with messages contrary to your what is scriptural. I know this I have been there and in fact am still there. So here are some things that will help you get through this time in a God honoring way.
1. Be in the Word everyday. If you have grown up in church you have probably heard this a thousand times but its the most important thing to do next to prayer. The Bible is God's word to you! Think about it, it is the CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE'S message to you and me! ITS IMPORTANT!
2. Be in constant prayer. If you don't talk to God more often than you talk to you friends there could be a problem...not saying you should walk around praying out-loud and looking like your crazy talking to yourself but you should just be in a constant state of prayer. (I almost feel like a hypocrite saying this but I am working on this one!)
3. Meditate on God's word. Reading is the first step, prayer is the second and now to take it a step further I want you to pick some scripture and just think about it and try to act upon it throughout the day. The benefits of this are amazing. You get peace, you make better decisions and there is a lot of joy in doing this!
4. If your college has a good ministry place....what are you waiting for? GET INVOLVED!
5. Surround yourself with Christian friends if possible. This is especially important if your college does not have a good ministry (like mine). Pray that God leads you to the friends he wants you to have. I love having a couple girl friends at school that I know I can hang out with and be encouraged by!
6. Don't stop going to your local church or if your at a college away from home find a good church to attend regularly.
7. Don't believe everything your professors say...Professor especially at secular colleges have an agenda they push and a good majority of the time it is not Christianity. Make notes for the test but know what God says too. :)
8. Show Christ in what you do, this is the best witness to those around you. " Preach the gospel all the time...and if necessary, use words"
9. This could be part of number 8 but show people love and kindness. This goes a long way in furthering the kingdom.
10. Don't forget amongst the stress of papers, tests, math problems, and sleep deprivation to thank God and keep a good attitude. This will not only help you but again will show others that you are different. :)
OK that's all I have for now. Let me know if I missed anything!

A couple of rules and guidelines for comments:

2. Be honest. Share stories and personal experiances if you would like but please don't share names and locations and such...I don't say this to be mean but to protect everyone here =)
