Thoughts on how easy it is to lose focus this season.

Hi everyone, I know that I have not been blogging at all lately and I apologize for that. Life has been crazy lately...

What I have been thinking about this past week is that since life has gotten to be so busy and chaotic...I have really lost ALL focus on the important stuff...and it wasn't all that hard to lose it either...

As This Christmas season is upon us I am realizing again the importance of keeping my focus on the Lord and doing hard things. When life gets busy and chaotic and you have choices to make (whether they are big or small and somewhat trivial) you tend to take the easier way out...the way that is going to give you temporary relieve during a stressful time but that may not necessarily help you down the road. I am trying to change my mindset to thinking more ahead as opposed to "Gotta get this done and over with quick and as painless as possible!". I think I need to slow down and get my priorities in order.

So today I ask you...Are you losing focus? Are you wanting to take the easy way out because of the craziness Christmas season? Do you need to slow down and re-evaluate what you are doing?

With that I challenge you...Before you dash off to all your Christmas parties, shopping, and fun this year ask yourself..."Am I neglecting the small hard stuff like the dishes or cleaning my room? Have I spent time with my Lord and Savior today? Are things in order so that I can go have fun or will I have to come home and stress over the stuff I need to do? "  Don't lose your focus this season but do have fun!

Merry Christmas!

  1. Last year, I did lose focus of the reason to the season. I was going through a rebellious time and just didn't care. I was angry and mad. This year, the Christmas spirit caught me early, and I was super-excited! I was ready to sing Christmas songs and put up lights in early November. In addition, I'm talking to God a lot more this season than I ever have. But I do know this: it's not just about the "Christmas season." Losing focus in April or July or October is just as harmfully wrong as it is in December. Since Christmas time is simply guarunteed to be hectic, it should be easier to prepare for the bombardment of craziness. Paul warned us to "prepare our minds for action", so heed his warning and get ready, because Santa Clause is coming to town!

  2. Lovizzle- You are correct. IT is just as harmful to lose focus anytime of year and I know that... I was just reflecting on my difficulty sometimes this time of year esspecially. but I appreciate your comment.

A couple of rules and guidelines for comments:

1. Please have them be appropriate... in the langauge you use, your grammer (As much as possible. I don't expect perfection.), and in regards to staying on the subject of the post.

2. Be honest. Share stories and personal experiances if you would like but please don't share names and locations and such...I don't say this to be mean but to protect everyone here =)
